We’re seeking a prolific and talented Content Marketing Manager to expand our company’s digital footprint, build awareness, and grow subscribers and product signups. Your blogs and downloadable content attract site traffic, provide value for our target market, and ultimately drive signups. Your creativity, ability to execute, attention to detail, and project management skills are the envy of your peers.

Our ideal candidate is a creative marketing professional with a strong writing background and a proven track record in creating and distributing content that moves people to the desired action. You are an expert at crafting cross-platform content strategies, writing and directing compelling, SEO-loving content, smoking out new and exciting ways to reach audiences, all while measuring performance and impact to make the wheel go around faster and faster. For this position, it’s also essential to be up to date with new technologies and marketing trends.

You will lead a team of 2 content creators plus a stable of outside contractors. This means you will need top-notch interpersonal and communication skills, as well as sound leadership, strategic direction and decision-making ability.

Your Responsibilities

This role is ultimately responsible for managing Comm100’s content marketing operation and the overall success of content marketing initiatives. You will guide content marketing strategy, facilitate ongoing content planning, manage day-to-day content creation, editing and promotion, and report on the results of the overall content marketing plan and each content marketing initiative.

Specific activities include:

    Research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities:

    • Identifying target audiences and their key demographics, interests, and online behavior
    • Research to define appropriate subjects and topics, including: (1)Surveying current customers to understand and validate strategic and tactical decisions; (2)Analyzing competitor content, messaging and distribution tactics; (3)Keyword research
    • Facilitating internal stakeholder interviews to identify business objectives and subject matter experts
    • Looking into content tools and software that can help with content creation and promotion.

    Developing the Content Marketing Strategy including:

    • An execution plan outlining the publishing frequency, production workflow (creation, reviews and approvals) and ongoing maintenance of the content
    • Specific, measurable goals and supporting timeline
    • A general budget with estimates for staff, creative resources and paid promotion
    • The types of content that will be created (eg: blog posts, ebooks, white papers, infographics, etc.)
    • Content distribution channels
    • A plan for paid promotion of the content.

    Content Creation:

    • Managing internal team members and external contractors / agencies as they develop content
    • Contributing at least one long form (1500 words) piece of content per week yourself.


    • Delivering on content marketing focused SEO activities including keyword research and tracking, competitive analysis, keyword targeting, SEO focused content development, link development through sharing high value content.

    Editing and Publishing:

    • Owning and enforcing the Comm100 style guide (brand personality, writing styles, grammar preferences, SEO formatting, image guidelines, formatting, etc.)
    • Editing completed content pieces
    • Publishing content pieces.

    Promotion and Distribution:

    • Publishing a content piece is only half the work! Each content piece needs to have a promotional plan to support its distribution
    • Promotion may include: email, social, forums, influencers, guest posting, paid, etc.

    Performance and Reporting:

    • Monitor each content piece for key metrics (views, shares, links, comments, quality, etc.)
    • Monitor performance of the overall Content Marketing Strategy against established goals.

About You:

  • Proven ability to generate creative ideas that attract attention on the web
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in B2B/B2C marketing, content creation, or digital publishing, with a strong and varied portfolio including long form (1500-word plus) content
  • You’re a great writer with an analytical mindset. You’ve also developed strong instincts around what makes a piece of web content thoughtful, engaging, and clear
  • You’re a fast learner who can absorb new information readily and put it into practice effectively. You’re great at digesting complex ideas and translating them for various audiences
  • You understand content promotion and distribution and can show portfolio examples of previous content promotion successes
  • Working knowledge of digital paid media, SEO, social media, digital PR, syndication, etc.
  • Close attention to detail, i.e., near-perfect grammar and strong editing skills
  • Working knowledge of SEO tools like Moz, Ahrefs and SEMrush
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics
  • Working knowledge of WordPress/HTML/CSS, with an eye for good web design
  • 2+ years’ management experience.
